3 Types of Moving Estimates
Before picking the type of estimate you need to get, you will have to know the different types and how they will affect the final cost of your move.

It's always important to think about the different types of estimates that you might get from each moving company when it comes time to choosing which one will work best with the specifics of your move.

Though they will give you the best estimate feasible, the mover won't be able to tell you the actual cost of the move until everything is weighed on your moving day. They will then adjust the cost, if necessary, after everything is weighed.

The first type of moving estimate is a called a nonbinding estimate. The mover will usually offer you the estimated cost of the move after they have evaluated all of your property.

On the other hand, there are also binding estimates, which let you know exactly what you will be paying for your move right off the bat. With this type of estimate, the mover will typically give you an estimate for the move after they come to personally estimate the value of your move in person. This in-person estimate that is provided will be a final, concrete estimate, and won't change no matter how much your final shipment weighs.

Binding not-to-exceed estimates are usually the best choice, so make sure you ask your potential moving company in the event that they can provide it. With a binding not-to-exceed estimate, the cost of the move will seldom go above the estimated cost. Because of this, if the total weight of the shipment is actually lower than what is estimated, the cost will be lowered.

Since the cost will be adjusted only if it is lower, binding not-to-exceed estimates are your best choice.
